SOUTH WEST LEAGUE

The first league match for 2011 saw the two City of Bristol teams bring home Gold & Silver medals.

The Premiership A team were up first and were competing against teams from all over the South West.  This was a young team made up from Beth, Annette & Hannah’s squads - Chloe, Ella, Emily, Laina, Finley and Kira.  They all produced fantastic performances, with 5 of the girls sticking their beam routines, to come away with the Team Silver Medal for overall performance.

The Division 1 A team were next to compete.  The team had a good mix of youth and experienced gymnasts - Meg, Ruby, Millie, Maddison, Amy and Bailey.  They worked together brilliantly, with ‘older’ gymnasts showing an excellent example to which the younger gymnasts followed.  4 had clean beam routines, together with some fabulous floor routines (which the team top scored on) saw them bring home the Team Gold Medal for overall performance in what was a tough competition.

Well done girls.

NATIONAL GRADES FINALS

Well done to Chloe and Emily who qualified for National Grades Finals.  Both girls went to Birmingham as part of the South West Team.  Chloe had a good competition finishing 14th overall, 8th on beam, 7th on floor and 1st out of the South West Team.  Emily represented the South West in the Compulsory 4 category.  Emily competed really well finishing in the top 24,  in a very difficult category with less than 1 mark separating 9th and 24th.  Like Chloe, Emily finished 1st out of the South West Team.

ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIPS

Megan, Chloe, Lauren & Chelsea competed at the English Championships.  Good competition for Lauren finishing 8th on Beam and 15th overall.  Chelsea won Bronze medal on vault and finished 14th overall.  Chloe had her first competition at this level and competed well.  Unfortunately due to an injury during her floor routine Megan was unable to complete the competition.

Well done to Chelsea who has been invited to join an England Squad Training session as a result of this competition.

CHRISTMAS DISPLAY

Well done to all our Gymnasts and their Families who braved the weather conditions to attend the Christmas Display.  Around the World in 80 minutes (and then some…).  The gymnasts and the coaches did a fantastic job putting together the routines.  Thank you to all the ladies who made the costumes they looked fantastic.  Both displays went really well even with a couple of technical hiccups.

GOOD LUCK TO THE ACROBATIC SQUAD

We would like to wish the very best of luck to our Acrobatic Squad who are sending a group of 14 gymnasts to Prague on the 11th-14th November.  Good luck and make us proud!  Plus a little message to the parents who are going to support - MAKE LOTS OF NOISE !!!!     The Bristol Evening Post has posted a nice photo and small write up to wish them well.  Thank you to Avery & Bennett Carpentry from Bath who sponsored the group by supplying Competition T-shirts.

Baskervilles District Level Comp 2010

Well done to our Recreational Competition Group who competed on the 7th November at Baskervilles in Bath. Big congratulations to Chloe Doyle who came 1st on floor in the U11 category. (go to the Rec Comp Group page for list of placings)

South West League 2010

Well done to all our Team Gymnasts.  Silver medals for all our Teams.  Our Premier A team did really well, we had changes to that team with Elena and Gemma moving up to the B League.  Division 1 A team moved up two places from 4th to 2nd.  Well done girls.   The Premier B team again did very well with Megan, Chelsea and Lauren moving to C League.  Our Premier C team had injuries with Megan and Lauren.  Chelsea did very well to represent the team on her own coming 3rd.

City of Bristol Gymnasts at the Bristol Half Marathon                        Sunday 5th September 2010

Three gymnasts from the Gymnastics Centre were at the Bristol Half Marathon to take part in the medal ceremony for the Elite Runners.  Charlotte, Hannah and Ben braved the weather and the traffic to get to Millenium Square where the stage and podiums were set up.  Ben led the atheletes to and from the stage and Charlotte and Hannah were the medal bearers.  The ceremony ran smoothly and the Half Marathon was a great event to watch on the big screen and at the roadside.
